Google’s SEO Starter Guide

Every webmaster it seems to me obsess too much about SEO, how will google like this if I do it, should I do this for better rankings, and more. Got a domain, and want to develop it? Then you start wondering about SEO and how to get that developed domain in the rankings for keywords, get page rank, etc.

So earlier today, I found a link to this super guide that google has on SEO. It is a pdf file and has about 20 pages of excellent material (none of the pages are numbered and I did not count how many pages as I read it).

Here is what google says: There is a wealth of search engine optimization information on the web, so much that it can be intimidating for newer webmasters or those unfamiliar with the topic. We thought it’d be useful to create a compact guide that lists some best practices that teams within Google and external webmasters alike can follow that could improve their sites’ crawlability and indexing.

NamePros Live Auction Time

Okay, most of us know that every two weeks, namepros holds a live auction for domain names. It is that time again, this Thursday evening at 5pm EST. I see a lot of domains and domain lots already in the bidding queue. With these many domains, I am sure that if you go to the live auction queue, you will see one or more domains you want to bid on.

Some lots of LLLL.com’s and LLLL.net’s are on the auction, good time to pick up some four letter .com’s and .net’s for the future. Also some good blog domains if you are looking for a blog domain to start a new blog, good forum names again if you are looking for a forum name to start a new forum, and here and there some good GEO names like ThousandOaks.info and CityofDM.com.

Myself, I put up 3 domains on the namepros live auction. One is the CityofDM.com, a nice one as DM is Des Moines, Iowa. Super geo domain for anyone who wants this domain, and it has a low reserve price! The other two domains are together in one auction, AmassingWealth.com (great for a site or blog about finances, wealth, banking, and so forth) and aFreeHosting.com (great for a site or blog for offering free hosting, talking about free hosting, and so much more). Check out my auction and feel free to prebid!

CityofDM.com

AmassingWealth.com & aFreeHosting.com

In any event, do drop by the live auctions now for a peek at the domains, and yes do stop by for the live auction and join the bidding wars on the domains. I will be there, just look for iowadawg.

Web Hosting Reviews & Rating

We all know that it is super easy to register a domain, but it is a bit rougher finding a good to best host company on the internet to host that domain. Even webmasters with tons of domains and websites are always looking for better hosting or to host a new site and they have problems at times finding a good host. Web hosting is one of those things on the internet that is a must have and it behooves you and I and all webmasters to make sure we get good web hosting.

Now there are many ways to find web hosting for your new domain and website. You could go searching via google or another search engine. But that just presents you with a ton of options and no way of knowing which of those options is good for you. I have found the best way to find those good hosting companies is not to be searching for them, but to go to a site that has up-to-date and very honest web hosting reviews so that I can read about each hosting companies and get the pros and cons of signing up with them. Face it, get a bad host because you did not get an honest review of that host and you probably will lose time and money, plus not see your site on the internet much.

I found that when it comes to web hosting reviews and rating, there is one top notch site and that is the Web Hosting Geeks. They keep up with all the hosting companies, good and bad, with great reviews and ratings of each one. So ahead of time, you know if the host company you are thinking about is worth it or not. Heck, even check this site and see how your present host company stacks up! You may want to rethink your present host and move to another better rated host company.

There is even a blog at this site that has tons of information on not just hosting, but how to optimize your site for the search engines, how much you should pay for a domain name, and more. This blog is excellent reading for every webmaster who wants to stay on top of the hosting, domaining, and seo world. You really should go to the web hosting blog and not only read it but bookmark it for future references. And please, feel very free to pass on this site to your friends and business contacts. They will thank you once they see the plethora of information found on this site and their blog. I really recommend all webmasters to go to this site!

Develop Your Domains

Talked about this earlier, developing your domains simply because more and more domainers are seeing their earnings from parking those domains drop. So why not do a minisite on those domains and make more money than parking them?

There are many ways to develop your domains in just a few minutes. One you can host those domains, getting a host that will allow you to host all your domains in one account. Quite a few hosting companies out there will allow you to do this. Even I will host your domains with one plan allowing you up to 25 domains on one account. This plan has 1100MB of storage (1GB) which is way more than you will need, plus 10500MB (10GB) of bandwidth per month. You cost is an affordable $25 per year! If you want me to host your domains, see above link “Yearly Hosting”.

Now you can add wordpress through your cpanel to your domains. Then find a nice theme you like from the thousands out there (google search “free wordpress themes”) and add it to your domain. Update your new blog once or twice a week with an article and you are in business after you monetize your blog with adsense and/or affiliate programs.

Or how about doing something like this? Only one snippet of code to add to your domain as an indext.html page. This is having the clickbank marketplace on your site and you can earn up to 75% on any sales you generate. An example is my site at: http://www.8z9.net

To get the above, it is free to join, is just go here: http://www.miturl.com/m3Wn174xm

If your ppc earnings on your parked domain not earning you enough, do think about developing them into minisites. And the above two ways are just two ways, there are quite a few affiliate progams you can try out.
